Trialling My New Psychic Development Training

I am about to launch my psychic development training, something I have been working on for quite a while now. Before opening it up to clients, I wanted to work through the appointments myself and have the opportunity to practise the exercises with someone else. I asked my partner if he would be willing to work through the training with me, and thankfully, he agreed. It has been really interesting to watch his understanding and awareness develop as we have moved through each appointment, but it has also given me the opportunity to experience some unexpected moments along the way.
The other day, he was up to Appointment Three, which focuses on understanding the different brainwave states and how to enter a more receptive state to tune in and receive psychic information. Before beginning the exercise, I guided him through a meditation to help clear his mind, followed by a breath-work exercise to help him move into a calmer and more receptive state. We then sat in silence for a little while, giving him the opportunity to settle into that state without immediately trying to analyse or interpret what he was experiencing. Once I felt he was ready, I asked him, “Are you picking up on anything? It doesn't matter what it is. Is anything coming to mind?”
Almost immediately, I received a vision of the side profile of a monkey. My first thought was, “Okay, random.” I didn't say anything to him because I wanted him to have the space to notice whatever came through for himself, without being influenced by anything I might say. A few seconds later, he said, “Monkey.” I looked at him and said, “Huh? I just saw a monkey?” It was such a specific and unexpected thing for both of us to receive that we couldn't help but find the timing amusing. Of all the things that could have come into his awareness, he had received exactly the same thing that had just appeared in mine.
What made the experience particularly interesting was that we hadn't been trying to tune into the same thing. The purpose of the exercise was simply to help him experience what it felt like to become receptive and notice psychic information as it came through. I hadn't given him an object to focus on or suggested that he look for an image, and I hadn't told him what I had seen. We were simply sitting together in the same space, both in a receptive state, and the same piece of information appeared to come through for both of us. Within psychic practice, experiences like this are sometimes described as telepathic overlap or shared remote perception, where two people appear to receive the same information while tuned into the same energetic space. I find these experiences interesting, although I don't think they necessarily need to be immediately explained or given a definitive meaning.
We also didn't continue with the monkey to try to work out what it represented. The exercise wasn't about interpreting the information; it was about learning to receive it. The monkey could have had a symbolic meaning, it could have been literal, or it could simply have been the piece of information that happened to come through at that particular moment. Without continuing to explore it, there was no way for us to know, and there was no need to force an interpretation simply because something unusual had happened. Learning when to receive information and when to interpret it is an important part of developing psychic ability, and in this particular exercise, receiving was the main focus.
What I found even more interesting, though, was discovering that although we had both received the same information, we had not received it in exactly the same way. For me, the monkey appeared as a vision. I saw the side profile of it in my mind, which is an example of clairvoyance. I was curious to find out how my partner had experienced it because we had already begun identifying his natural way of receiving psychic information during his first appointment. When I asked him what had happened, he explained that he had randomly thought of a “monkey”. It had initially come through simply as a thought, appearing in his mind before he had consciously tried to work anything out. This is associated with claircognizance, where information is experienced as a sudden thought, awareness or sense of knowing. Just after that initial thought, he then received a vision of a monkey as well, meaning that clairvoyance followed the initial claircognizant impression.
This was a really useful example of why I encourage people who are developing their psychic abilities to pay attention to how information naturally arrives for them. There isn't one universal way that psychic information should feel. One person may immediately see an image, while another may receive a thought, a feeling, a physical sensation, a word or a sudden sense of knowing. Sometimes several forms of information can happen almost simultaneously, as they did for my partner. Understanding your own natural way of receiving can make it much easier to recognise psychic information when it arrives, particularly when it is subtle and could easily be mistaken for an ordinary thought or feeling.
It is also why I don't think psychic development is simply about learning a list of psychic abilities and trying to make them happen. There is a significant difference between understanding what clairvoyance or claircognizance means and actually recognising those experiences within yourself. Developing your awareness involves becoming familiar with your own patterns and learning to notice what happens before your analytical mind has an opportunity to question it. In my experience, the first impression can be incredibly quick and subtle, which is why creating a quiet, receptive state can be so helpful when learning to recognise these experiences.
The monkey was not something we were expecting, and it certainly wasn't something we were trying to create. It was simply an unexpected moment that occurred while I was helping my partner learn what it feels like to tune in and receive. For me, it was a fascinating reminder that psychic information can sometimes be experienced by more than one person, and that even when two people receive the same information, the way it arrives can be completely different. It was a small moment, but one that perfectly demonstrated why learning to recognise your own unique way of receiving psychic information is such an important part of psychic development.
