Challenges I have faced as a psychic

As a psychic, I am incredibly fortunate to wake up every day and do what I love. The opportunity to connect with clients on a spiritual level, offer guidance, and witness their personal growth is a privilege I cherish deeply. However, just like any profession, being a psychic comes with its own set of challenges. In this blog post, I want to share with you some of the hurdles I've encountered on my journey as a psychic reader. From navigating skepticism to managing the emotional toll of my work, each challenge has provided valuable lessons and insights that have shaped me both personally and professionally.

Religious beliefs:

Engaging with people who are religious can present challenges, as some perceive psychic practices as contradictory to their religious beliefs. Many religious communities hold skepticism or even disapproval towards psychic abilities, fearing they may stray from their spiritual path. I come from a catholic family - so in my work, I approach these interactions with sensitivity, prioritising respect for clients' beliefs and offering support without imposing psychic insights.

People not approaching readings properly:

Sometimes clients may approach the reading with no questions or intentions for the reading, not wanting to validate information, not wanting to work as a team or keep an open mind. When not approaching a reading properly, it can hinder the flow of information and make it challenging to establish a connection or provide specific information and meaningful guidance.

Emotional toll:

Providing psychic readings often involves delving into sensitive and emotionally charged topics, which can take a toll on the psychic's emotional well-being, leading to fatigue or burnout. I previously studied courses that have touched on counselling and communication skills, but as a psychic i need to find ways to ground myself after a reading.

Managing expectations:

Managing clients expectations can be challenging, especially when they have unrealistic or unattainable expectations about the outcomes of a reading or my abilities as a psychic. I can only go with the information i am being provided with, so it can be hard when a client feels like what I receive as psychic isn’t meeting their expectations. It is always good to have realistic expectations and share your expectations and intentions with the reader, so they know how to best assist you.

Lack of scientific validation:

The lack of scientific validation of psychic abilities can lead to skepticism and doubt from clients or the general public, making it challenging to establish credibility and legitimacy in the field. In my experience, a psychic has a high awareness and heightened senses, which allows them to receive information. But unfortunately there is not much scientific information out there, to validate this.

Fear of negative readings / being wrong:

Psychics can experience fear or anxiety about delivering negative readings or being wrong, which can impact their confidence and ability to provide accurate insights to clients. This was something i had a hard time with for a long time! But these days i just say it - just in case it resonates with a client in the future.

Dealing with overly dependent clients:

I sometimes encounter clients who become overly dependent on my readings, making it challenging to establish healthy boundaries and encourage self-reliance. Even though psychic readings can assist you with navigating certain situations and provide you with potential predictions - it is always a good idea to live life and see how everything plays out naturally and not live by what a psychic says.

Emotional burnout / Sickness:

Providing psychic readings can be emotionally demanding and may lead to burnout or sickness if not managed properly, presenting challenges in maintaining well-being and productivity. To be able to assist and support other clients, i must find ways to ground and protect myself before and after every reading i do.

Stress from having to be "always available" for clients:

The expectation of being constantly available for clients can be stressful for psychics, leading to feelings of pressure and overwhelm as we try to balance personal and professional responsibilities. I always try my very best to be available when i can. For example, i have clients based overseas who may only be available to do a reading very late at night, my time - and i still try to make it work. But like any job it is important to set boundaries when needed.

People expecting free psychic information:

Some people may expect me to provide free information or insights without considering my time, expertise, or need to earn a living - which can create challenges in setting boundaries and valuing my work as a psychic. If a client has respected my business in the past and i have time, then i am okay with answering a couple questions for free. But at the end of the day, i do this full time for work - so i need to respect that too.
